Well my last couple of weeks have been a lot better than my previous ones. For one I'm no longer deathly sick, and I have the energy to teach a whole day without a nap. I've started teaching some new classes this past week. On Saturdays and Wednesdays I'm now teaching speech and writing classes for my older students. They have this big competition coming up in the next month and the kids are preparing. I don't know how these kids have time to do anything fun seriously, they go to school, then english school twice a week, plus their homework, other extra curiculum activities, etc. They're wonder children I swear. But some of their speeches are really good. A couple of the kids are at the level where they can throw in a couple of jokes, and another one of my students is presenting his like he's a radio dj. All in all I'm having fun helping them with them. In december I'll be a judge at one of the competitions so it will be fun to see what the other schools are doing for them. I've also started teaching the teachers at my kindie branch english with another teacher Anneke. We can teach them anything, so we're teaching them fun vocabulary for dating, shopping, etc. Today was our first class and it went really well. It's nice to teach a class where I'm showing someone how to speech like we do back home. Most of the kids I teach sound like robots when they speak, and they don't get to learn any slang. Today I was teaching them to use "Yo", "What's up?", " Later". Next week some of the Chinese Teachers are going to teach us some Chinese so that should be good. My current level of Chinese is not great. Some of the new words I've learned are "Jiow Jiow", which means "go, go, go" and "sigga" which means "I want". But I'm still playing charades pretty much most of the time when I speech to the people here. (Brock brock brock- chicken, choo choo- train station, yeah it's a bit humiliating at times).
On Sunday I went to Taipei to see my Vancouver friend Krista and try and find a winter jacket. Supposedly it's going to get pretty cold here in the next couple of weeks. We'll see if that's true or not....right now the average temp is like 26 degrees but it is raining like crazy as you can see from the pics. We went by Taipei 101, so you can see what it looks like in the day. But here are some pics from the last couple of weeks. One is South Park Lindsay, and real life Lindsay, see if you can see the resemblance (yes I was bored one day). But anyhoo keep me updated on all of your lives. I like to hear about anything, even the parts you think are boring. Like if you ate a really good bean burrito one day, hey man I want to know (god do I ever miss mexican food).-Lindsay

Hi Favorite Daughter:
Great to hear you are feeling better. We have a xmas care package all ready to go. Can we send food items?
Please send me a couple of Jade Buddhas for your dear old dads xmas present.
Your favorite Dad
Yes you can send food items, Mom sent me cereal in the mail and it was fine. And I will get you Jade Buddhas if you donate to the "Starving ex-student" fund, for only $20 a day you too can save a poor ex-student from starvation.
Well life in K-town is pretty much the same. Classes are winding down... I cannot believe how fast the term has gone. I have a horrible exam schedule so I need to start reviewing but my social life is getting in the way of that. I am really enjoying my single life this term. Hanging out with different groups of people and going to event I usually would not have b/c I did not want Adam to feel left out.
I applied to graduate today and had my grad photos this week. I may need to do retakes as I as up till 5:30 the night b/f w/ friends. The dark circles may be too much for the professional touchup.
I will be very happy to leave school for good. I only wish I could transport the people here to BC.
Miss you loads:)
Glad to hear you are enjoying things a bit more now!
Things with me are good. I had a good visit with Greg last weekend. It's weird to think I hadn't seen him for 3 years.
I also had a date this past week, with the 6-day rule guy (yes, he called after exactly 6 days). It actually went pretty well.
I'm starting to stress about exams etc, thinking I should be starting to study by now... and yet still not feeling enough motivation to actually do it.
You picked a good fall to leave Vancouver. We've had really stormy weather, and as a result, our drinking water has not been safe to drink for the past 3 days. The water coming out of my taps on Thurs and Fri was really muddy... today it is just cloudy. But we're supposed to get another storm tomorrow, so I'm not sure if things will be getting any better. It's hard to find bottled water too, a lot of stores are selling out. My parents came by today with a bunch of water for me. Exciting stuff.
Anyway, have a great week!
Yeah, so I mailed your gift today, I figure it should get there sometime before May.
Oh, and I'll call you when I'm done the hell that is my independent inquiry paper.
Yeah Sweetie.
Have you seen the weather channel for Vancouver lately.. SNOW!!! and lots of it.
Ontario is gorgeous right now. So I am really enjoying this. I know my turn will come and then it will be nose-hair freezing cold. But at this moment I am really enjoying it. I need something to distract me from exam hell.
Did u find a winter jacket?
Lots of Love
Hey You,
Well all this snow is delaying my rendezvous with Donut.... I couldn't make it in to work today, so hopefully we'll get together sometime this week.... although we did exchange a few emails from our exclusive work email accounts. It was very exciting.
I'm all done my grad school app's. I got reccommendations from Professor Menkis and Glassheim, and I'm very pleased. So its either Toronto or McGill!!
Ummm.... oh yeah!! I'm going to Toronto on sunday! My Dad has a conference so I'm tagging along to check out U of T and meet with some faculty and hopefully some students in the department I'm applying to. Should be fun, but I'm totally broke so there is no shopping or fancy outings for me (bummer!!).
Keep in touch! And have fun!!!
Love, Kat
