In the last two weeks there have been many bbqs and unfortunately a lot of goodbyes. My friends David, Chelsea, and Japie have now all left to either Taipei or Beijing. Japie and Chelsea are going on a trip there together since their contracts coincided together. As you can see the bbq at Japie and Van's roof was somewhat successful. The guys didn't really know what they were doing, so there ensued a lot of flames with burger patties that were raw on the inside and burnt as hell on the inside, mmmmm, some good eating. Luckily after the burger fianso there were still hot dogs so we cooked them up and they were pretty good.
The flames however were blamed on a lack of rags on hand at the crucial moments, yeah it was the rags....Anyhoo, we had a couple of kindie parties too for everyone. The one at kindergarten was fun. Our tradition is to buy story books for the teachers who are leaving. This time is was up to me to pick out the books for Japie and Chelsea and I got '10 Little Monkeys', and 'Three Billie Goats Gruff', both of these books were favorites for them, so it's kind of a nice keepsake for when you leave here to remember all of your munchkins and the many hours you spent reading them stories. The other part of the tradition is to get pie from the bakery, and let me tell you the pies here are delicious!
There has been a slight change of plans though. My friend Krista who lives in Taipei just told me yesterday that she's had enough and she's leaving either this weekend or the next for home (Vancouver). It's sad because I'll miss her, but it's also kind of funny because she's sticking it to our company. The thing is we were planning on going to Toyko together in August and now she's going home, so I don't really know what to do with my time. Should I still go? Or a thought came to me last night to use my return flight and come home for 3 weeks? I don't know. I'm going to email my new boss and see if the company
is willing to pay for my flight from home? If they are then I might do it, if not then I might plan a trip to the Philipines...oh the choices. But what does everyone think? Anyhoo, I hope everyone is good. Keep me updated on what's going on in your lives. I still want to see pics of everyone too. It's not fair you stay connected with me through my blog and pics, but I just get emails from you and no pics.-Lindsay
