Lesson: never get your hair colored in a country where you do not speak the native language, never I mean never!

Ok so last week my two friends Anneke and Katrina came into work with new hair cuts and really great highlights. This was my motivation (girls you know how it is when one of your friends gets a really great hair cut, you suddenly feel the urge to get one too...oh Lindsay). So I got the card for the place, a little map on how to get there, and a note in Chinese that one of my Chinese Teachers had written for me. (And I know she likes me so I don't think she wrote: give her crazy rock and roll hair anywhere). One of the stylists even speaks English, so I thought, ok I have everything covered. My blonde hair should be safe....oh no, was I ever wrong. I got there at 2:30pm, and left at 10pm! Yes 10pm. Oh the horror, the horror... So in my note I asked Wendy to write: please trim my hair, cut my bangs so they are whispy again (all of that was translated properly). The color part, not so much. What I wanted was strawberry blonde and light blonde highlights. Just like I got before I left. It looks natural, but adds that extra pop that is fun and non-rock and rollish. Well first what I got was bright red highlights and they dyed my whole head of hair brown! Brown! But instead of it looking a nice normal shade of brown it turned out purply-brown with bright red highlights. No blonde to be seen. So obviously at that point I made sure they brought out the color swatches and I physically showed them, that no I didn't want brown hair but my nice normal blonde with highlights HIGHLIGHTS! Ah, so after that they somewhat understood. They tried their best to fix it, so now I have orangey blonde hair with red highlights, and for an added bonus, that again I did not ask for, a couple of really dark dark brown highlights. I have bad rocker hair now! Here are some pictures, have a good laugh, I did yesterday. What else could I do but laugh, it was funny, horrifying but still pretty halarious. Oh Taiwan. Anyhoo, life in general (other than my rocker hair) is pretty good. Christmas is coming up and I have a cute x-mas tree in my little place. Also I'm going to Taichung next week to enjoy christmas with my training friends: Krista, Kevin, David, Justin and Elena. It should be good times, not the same as Christmas in Canada, but hey maybe I'll get another crazy story from it.

When I was reading your blog, I was really expecting the worst. The hair doesn't look bad! It's kind of cute. It is rock and roll-ish, but hey, rock and roll is fun.
Merry early Christmas! I am going to Saskatoon this year, leaving on Friday. I am going to freeze my ass off.
Exams are just about over... my last one is tomorrow morning and I just can't bring myself to study for it. I am SO SICK of studying. I can't wait until vacation starts...
Things are the boy front are good. I've gotten to see a lot of Colin (6 day rule phone call guy), considering we're both doing exams. We're getting a long well, I'm having fun, so I'm happy with it.
Anyway, hope you have a great holiday!!

I know the hair is not what you are used to but it is cute. When in Rome.
I am happy to be at home and no longer spending 15hrs in the library.. I swear there is a seat w/ my butt imprint in it.
I will be spending most of the time on the island but will likely spend New Years in Vancouver with Christi. We have no idea what we are doing but we will figure something out.
Nothing really new besides that. A girlfriend of mine wants me to start dating a second year. He just turned 24 so is younger then me but cute. We only just started talking so I do not know enough about him. Plus it could never be more then a 4 month thing. We will see. If he asked me on a date I would not say no. We have a lot in common.. HR undergrad, mgt-side labour, love of hockey although we differ on the teams.
I will let you know what happens there.
Lots of love. Have a merry christmas. Wishing you find you hot doctor under some mistletoe.
Awww, you guys are so halarious. Di I wish I would have been there for your party. My boss Dan is leaving tomorrow morning for home for the holidays and all of us at work are so jealous. I don't know what I'm doing for New Years yet, but my two friends Chelsea and Anneke are partiers so I'm sure I'll have some random Taiwanese party to go to. It will be weird spending it single though, well I do have a week and a bit (here med student....). Yeah they celebrate Chinese New Year here, this year it's in February ( I get a week off, oh the joys). Anyhoo, happy holidays girls.

MERRY CHRISTMAS LINDSAY!!!
We will miss you at the family thing...I think Taiwan and Christmas will be good fun. It sounds like your friends there know how to have a good time.
Kendall and I both think your hair looks cool...change is always good even if it is a little unexpected. I think you are so used to blond hair that even brownish would be quite a shock. I did the same thing about 3 months ago (dyed my whole head very dark brown) and freaked out too. I went back two days later and got her to put blond highlights in it cause everytime I looked in the mirror it took a few seconds too long to realize this was me! Anyway, have a wonderful Christmas whatever you do and we will "cheers" to you at Chris's dinner of filet mignon...lol We are just sooo traditional aren't we!
Lots of love,
Steph and Kendall
